Metro PCS A205U - Carrier Relock Sucessful, then failed on re-try

The carrier relock process was working previously; I had successfully used the process on another Metro PCS A205U -- the initial run failed to accept other carriers' SIM cards, but on the subsequent run the phone accepted all intended carriers' SIM cards.

I used the process again on a different A205U, the initial run also did not allow other carriers' SIM cards. I ran the procedure again a couple more times but still could not get the phone to accept the intended SIM cards.

I updated the firmware and re-applied the process, but it resulted in a "Carrier relock failed".

Please help.
